Nepenthes bellii x (thorelii x aristolochioides)
This neat little hybrid has the general shape of the cool growing Nepenthes thorelii x aristolochioides hybrid but smaller a bit more red and a heat lover which is strange for anything involving N. aristolochoides. But because of the Nepenthes belii genes this plant doesn’t like cool Highland conditions much at all. I have one division growing in HL very slowly but the ones in Lowland conditions grow much swifter. Continue reading

Nepenthes mirabilis Trang Bizarre form
At first glance this plant seems similar to Nepenthes mirabillis var globosa AKA Nepenthes viking but with white/pink flushed pitchers instead of deep red however upon receipt of a new shipment of plants which included an N. mirabillis var. globosa I can see that this Trang Bizarre form doesn’t have any hairs on the leaf margins as seen on the other two forms of N. mirabillis I have. Currently the pitchers open up light in color but age to a very nice deep yellow with red pattern. Continue reading

Nepenthes jamban
Nepenthes jamban belongs to the “toilet bowl” shaped species, mine is young yet having had to be restarted from dormant nodes of a young plant who had succumbed to root rot about six months ago because I left the plant potted in the media it had arrived in. I generally never grow in other peoples media but I left this one and sure enough the roots died and I ended up having to start over. The positive spin is that I now have several small N. jambansĀ from that one vine instead of just the one. Continue reading

Nepenthes edwardsiana

One of the more coveted of Nepenthes species, I was lucky enough to acquire two seed grown individuals from Botanique Nursery (seedlings no longer available). SG #2 seems to be a much faster grower than SG#1, perhaps this indicates SG#1 is a female (I can only hope). Continue reading
